Let's talk in the third person for a bit!
Sarah Heikkinen is a Troy, NY-based social media manager, freelance journalist and designer, aspiring critic, and hypocritical vegan. After getting a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Africana & Latino Studies at SUNY Oneonta, Sarah applied to the the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University (spoiler: she got in). After a long year of writing, rewriting, and crying, Sarah received her Master's in Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism in June of 2017.
Now that she's officially finished her formal education (fingers crossed), Sarah's living and working as a freelance writer and editor in Troy, NY. Her interests include writing about (and occasionally performing) music, dismantling the white patriarchy, and curating only the finest memes on the interweb on Twitter (follow her at @sar_heikkinen).
Sarah has written for Teen Vogue, the Syracuse New Times, PMc Magazine, Deal News Inc., The State Times at SUNY Oneonta, and The Scofield (where she is also an editor). In addition to that, Sarah is the Executive Editor of the up-and-coming music website, UTIOM. She was also the Editor-in-Chief of 360 Magazine, a campus publication at Syracuse University, and the Managing Editor of Reenact Magazine, her cohort's award-winning online capstone project.
